After buying my first house on the GI Bill, I began woodworking by necessity in 1976. I had previously spent two years in the Army after graduating from college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. That first house was an FHA repo and needed extensive repairs. With minimal tools of my own and some borrowed tools, I went to work. It turned out that it was really enjoyable and got me started in woodworking. A few years later, that house was flipped, followed by a second and third house. My marketing job took up most of my time, so woodworking became a hobby.

After retiring from a 30-year career in sales and sales management, my wife Pam and I, along with our “crew” (two rescue dogs and three rescue cats), spent a few years traveling around the US in an RV before settling down in our retirement home in Missouri.  We started a very small business, selling items that I made at craft fairs, some consignment sales and on a website.

As a wood artist I strive to bring out the natural beauty that is inside the wood. Preferring not to remove healthy trees, most items are made from native Missouri trees which are damaged by storms, removed by power companies, cut down by developers, or cutoffs from furniture factories.

My current woodworking activities include turned bowls, cutting boards and other assorted turned items, and on occasion furniture repair parts, but that is always subject to change.
