I grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, fortunate to be part of a family that not only taught me about the beauty of life, but also about the beauty of art. I majored in psychology at the University of Michigan, but always found myself drawn to more creative pursuits.

I started taking metalsmithing classes when my husband and I moved to St. Louis in 1972. For several years, I took classes at Essayons Studio in Webster Groves.However, due to child rearing and work obligations, any aspirations I had of pursuing the career of an artist had to be put on hold. Upon my retirement from the Special School District in 2008, I decided to follow my dream and enrolled in classes at Craft Alliance in University City.
Ever since, I have been involved in making fine jewelry that pushes the boundaries of discovery and imagination. At least, that is my aim.

In working with such metals as silver, copper and gold-filled, I create unique, one- of -a kind pieces of jewelry. I incorporate both geometric as well as organic forms in my work and at times blend the two into one. My favorite technique involves texturing the metal with heat which causes it to melt and to form different patterns on the surface. Adding color, setting stones, and soldering, are also integral aspects of my work. Although my first love is metalsmithing, I have also studied lamp work bead making.

I get my ideas by observing the world around me, getting inspiration from fellow artists and by envisioningwhat I would want to wear and what others might take pleasure from. My granddaughters are also my source of stimulation; they are always offering design suggestions and they are my greatest fans.

I was recognized by Craft Alliance in 2012 as an Emerging Artist and was also juried into their Works from the Studio Exhibitions in 2014 and 2016.
