Pottery
St. Charles, MO

I am a potter. My interest in ceramics began in college at Concordia Teacher's College in Seward, NE. I took a course in pottery from Reinhold Marxhausen, a man that was well respected in several artistic mediums. Mr. Marxhausen was featured on the David Letterman Show several times because of his unusual art. While in school I entered several student shows and regional professional shows in the Midwest. I also sold my work at the Market in Omaha, NE.
When I became a teacher in 1971, I put my art career on hold until 1999. I then entered a master's program at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO. I graduated with a Masters of Studio Art in 2001. I have taken art
classes from Webster University, SIUE, and Washington University as well.
I have been a resident artist at the Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles, MO since 2004 and the Soulard Art Gallery since 2015. I have had several of my works in the Gallery section of the Clay Times Magazine.
I enjoy making art that is unusual and kind of whimsical. I teach children and adult pottery classes in my studio. My work is intended to inspire the children and the adults that I teach. I enjoy hand building pottery, throwing on the wheel and combining the two methods to produce unique pieces of art.
